(MARCH 17, 2081) Today will probably officially end my basketball season as I attend the last two games here in Dallas. Two teams will go home and two team will be dancin' into the Sweet 16.
First up was the Darlings of Dallas, Loyola of Chicago taking on the Co-Champions of the SEC, The Tennessee Volunteers. While the was quiet a bit of Orange in the crowd, almost everyone else was pulling for Loyola.
Tennessee was hampered some what when their big guy Admiral Schoefield pickup his second found early in the first half and spent a lot of time on the bench. This may have allowed Loyola to gain some confidence as they were able to play with the Vols and Keep it close.
The second half was much the same, Schoefiled picked up his third foul early and Loyola gained more confidence. As we got deeper into the game, the arena began to fill up with Red Raider Fans and they managed to turned this into the Big Home Crowd Loyola had ever played before.
As it became obvious that Loyola was going to send the Vols packing, Just about every one stood and cheered as the final horn sounded and Sister Jean was brought to the floor in here wheelchair.
If you want to know who Sister Jean click the link. I think Sister Jean is the real Cinderella and she ain't done dancin' yet. What a wonderful person and a wonderful story.
The second game of the night pitted a couple of big dogs, the Florida Gators against basically the home standing Texas Tech Red Raiders.
The Red Raider Faithful had made trip down from Lubbock and the American Airlines Center was sold out. The Red Raider Fans we loud and proud even before the Jump Ball and stayed that way until the victorious end. Yes the Red Raiders will be Joining Loyola in the Sweet 16 Next weekend.
After being settled here in Dallas for 5 Nights, my time here in Big D is coming to an end. Tomorrow will be my final day here in the Metroplex. I plan on visiting Dealey Plaza and the 6th Floor Museums before visiting some of the other Kennedy Assassination sites. Then it will be time to start making my way south toward Waco and Austin.
